Frequently Asked Questions

Where do you deliver to?
We deliver all our bouncy castles to Horsham, Southwater, Storrington, Steyning, Crawley, Dorking, Loxwood, Billingshurst, Petworth, Midhurst, Chichester, Bognor Regis, Littlehampton, Worthing, Portslade, Brighton, Newhaven, Lewes, Uckfield, Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath and the surrounding area.

How long will i have the bouncy castle for?
We try to have all our castles delivered by midday and we will start collecting them again, in the same order, during the early evening. This gives everyone an equal amount of ‘bouncing’ time to enjoy themselves. However, if you have a particular time requirement, then please feel free to discuss it with us.

Do i have to pay a deposit?
We do not normally take a deposit; all we require is payment to be made upon delivery and before set up. You may be asked for a cancellation fee to cover administrative and travel costs if no prior cancellation notice has been given.

How long dose it take to set up?
From arrival, it normally takes around 20 minutes to complete the paperwork and prepare the bouncy castle ready for use. Set may take longer if you hire a obstacle course or multiple castles.

How much electricity dose a bouncy castle use?
Bouncy castles use approximately 20p (pence) per hour.

Are there any restricts on who can use the bouncy castles?
All our bouncy castles are suitable for children with a height limit of 1.5 meters. If you require a bouncy castle for adults and taller children please take a look at our adult inflatables.
Note: It is for the hirer, not us, to determine safe and proper usage of our inflatables. We would strongly advise against unattended children, babies, children in arms, the old and infirm, those who are pregnant or have heart or back conditions that prevent them from carrying out normal exercise and anybody who might be under orders from a medical practitioner not to exert themselves or take any such risks, from using our inflatables. This list is not exhaustive and it is therefore the responsibility of each hirer and everyone using our inflatables to satisfy themselves that they do so in a safe, controlled and proper manner. Bounce about Sussex will not be held liable for any damage or injury, how so ever caused, due to negligence of the hirer or those users.

How much space is needed for a bouncy castle?

Ideally, you need a 3ft gap each side of the castle, this leaves us enough room to stake it down. Behind the castle, you need a 5ft gap as this is where the fan has to go and placed far enough away from the rear of the castle to prevent injury should someone fall from the rear wall. In front of the castle you need to make sure you have a clear area so children can get on and off safely, about a 5ft gap minimum.

What happens in poor weather conditions?
Most of our castles come with rain/sun covers and can therefore still be used in light showery conditions. Should there be heavy rain or strong winds the inflatable should not be used. Do however keep the inflatable inflated. This stops water from pooling inside and on the inflatable. It is recommended that the maximum wind speed inflatables can be operated outdoors is 38km/h or Force 5 on the Beaufort Scale. We keep regular checks on current weather conditions and if we feel that there is likely to be heavy rain or extreme wind on the day of your hire, we might contact you before delivery to discuss with you to see if you wish to go ahead with your booking. If we end up setting your bouncy castle up then it'll have to be paid for and we are unable to offer any refunds for bad weather. If the weather is poor on the day of your booking and we cancel the hire for safety and insurance reasons we will try our best to book you the same castle (if available), or another one of the same size, if available, on another day of your choice.

What should we do if it rains heavily after you've left?
In heavy rain conditions or worse, please ask all children to exit the inflatable, please do not switch it off at the electricity mains, if you leave the castle inflated, it stops water from pooling inside it. We supply electrical extension leads that are splash proof and our blowers are water protected. Once the rain has stopped wipe the castle with a towel before allowing children on it again to avoid slipping accidents.

Is there anything I need to provide when I hire a bouncy castle from Bounce About Sussex?
We will bring all the equipment needed with them. This will include the inflatable that you have hired, safety mats (where needed), pegs to hold the castle down outside on grass or sand bags for indoor use, extension leads, and an electric inflation fan.
There must be access to a 240V mains power supply (general mains socket is fine) within 50 meters of the bouncy castle.
Generators are an alternative where no electricity is available and are priced from just £30.

What surfaces can the bouncy castle be erected on?
We are happy to put all our castles on grass or concrete, as long as we can anchor it safely and securely.

Can your bouncy castles be set up on a slope?
Yes, it is possible to do so; however this only applies to very slight slopes. We will not set up on very steep slopes.

How does the bouncy castle stay up?
The bouncy castle stays up (inflated) with the aid of electric blowers, which stay on all the time the castle is in use.

Can the bouncy castle be used indoors?
Yes, we are happy to put all of our bouncy castles indoors providing there is sufficient height to do so.

If you have any other further questions, please do not hesitate to ask us by using the details on our contact page.

Is there anything I need to do?

No, we do all the heavy work so you can get on with preparations for your party. All we ask is that, if you are having it at your home, before we arrive can you clear a passageway for us to pull the trolley through with the bouncy castle on (minimum 3ft gap). Make sure you have left enough room for us to get pass any parked cars on the driveway, we don’t want to scrape pass your pride and joy, and that you have cleared a big enough space in the garden where you want us to put the castle, ie, cleared the area of any animal soil, sharp objects (ie washing line holes) or any other debris.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We have £5 million Public Liability insurance. This covers you when we are delivering/collecting the inflatable, setting up and pulling down, if the unfortunate was to happen and we should damage any of your property, you have peace of mind that you can claim off our insurance. But rest assured – we are professional in our approach, and take every care and have never had a claim yet. Once the castle is erected, we will run through a few basic safety checks, pointing out any risk areas and ask you to sign a copy of our terms and safety procedures. Once we have left the site, the supervision of the inflatable and it’s users is down to the hirer.

Can I take out my own insurance against accidents?

In most cases, your own domestic house insurance will already cover you for the bouncy castle and it’s users. If this is something you are worried about, call your insurance company and discuss this with them. If you are not covered already, they may be able to issue you with a short term policy to cover the party for a small fee!

Bounce About Sussex are here to help, if you have any more questions that we haven't answered then please don't hesitate to ask us. You can find all our contact details on our Contact page.
